I hit a 200M spin playing a slot machine and got the offer to double my winnings and get two eternal flames for everyone in the room. The cost was 3500 gems. I hesitated until the offer went away but I’m always left wondering when to accept those offers and when not to. Does anyone have a rule of thumb? I assume there’s not a simple answer because everyone has different priorities and different size gem hoards, but there are some very skilled statisticians on this forum so maybe one of you has a recommendation. Thanks in advance!
I used to do that in the beginning, but realized that spending my gems on my city was a better option. Long range benefit! Doing the “double your winnings” is a one-time deal and not worth it. Use the 3500 gems to buy buildings that will pay off longer than ONE charm will pay.
I did it one time on a “Get Double Charms” day and got FOUR. That was neat. But yes, it IS pricey
3,500 gems is quite an investment. When you accept that pop-up, you’re only getting a one-time charm payout, and coin balances can vanish in an instant anyway.
Putting those gems directly into your city gives you far more value in the long run.
That’s a great question. Just do the math of comparisons. If you pay gems to enter parties, the least number of charms you’ll get is 25 + 1 of each charm that is bought during the party + any charms paid out for each bust level.
The math is even more diabolical when you are only using party passes for parties. Why pay gems for charms at all when you can get them for free? But it boils down to your attitude about parties. Some attendees love to buy charms for each other while others just love to receive them. I get joy from gifting someone randomly. Whether they gift me back or not, somehow my treasure boxes start yielding more gems and passes. I can’t show the math for it, though.
