How to Win at Jewels of Osiris

I prefer to play games where the player has the advantage. One such game, if played correctly, is Jewels of Osiris. This was especially helpful for me when I started out. Here are some tips.

Remember you only pay when you make a move. So if you don’t like the board, you can reload at zero cost!

A simple strategy is to only play the fives, which means making a L a T or a line. You can do this on any board. See the images below. You can make a green L, a blue T or a white line. This guarantees you will at worst break even:

If you want to play a full board, I would keep reloading until I get a square board (no outside indentations) that have an objective of 6 ankhs or 15 matching gems - examples shown:

In this board the objective is to drop 6 ankhs from the bottom. Moves should be made to accomplish that objective first.

In this board, the objective is to match 15 gems of the specific color (in this example pink triangles), usually in threes. Try to accomplish the object first.

Some important points:

Look for fives first. Otherwise make moves towards the bottom.

If you get stuck with objective, and you built up a lot of ankhs or special gems, use the reshuffle button.

I always try to save reshuffle for this purpose only.

After the objective is made, you can play the game as long as you want and expect a positive result. Try to extend the game as long as possible. Play at the bottom, but maybe avoid the side that has your last remaining uncleared space.

So that’s basically it:

  1. Play the Fives first on ANY board
  2. Play only the two square boards with 6 ankhs or 15 jewels objectives
  3. Play to make your objective (always play any five first)
  4. Play from the bottom (unless there is a five) trying to avoid clearing your board as long as possible.

That’s it. I use my lesser charms on Jewels. have fun.

I try to fill the bowls as much as possible. they can blow up a LOT of gems when triggered

I actually don’t like blowing up gems because it ends the game too soon when you have a favorable board.

In Jewels of Osiris, the game often tries to clear the board for you toward the end by providing lots of power-ups from multiple matches. To maximize your profits, avoid clearing the last few squares right away. Instead, focus on matching tiles further away and try to prolong the game as much as possible.

Thank-you @Elanor really appreciate your insight, I will make sure to read it carefully before my next board

I use Nectar and Insure a Winning Board before I play

The Main Goal of this Game is “NOT” to Clear the Board! Even though they want you to Clear the Board, That is BAD  The Game will eventually Attack you when you WIN BIG! You have to be on the lookout and not let that happen.

YES! A Senior Player actually wrote a 50 Page .PDF Book on this Topic! She said a Player can WIN Billions on this Game WITHOUT using Charms! :open_mouth: She E-Mailed me the book and I went at it. I followed her Method and Won a LOT! When I used Charms, I Won a LOT more though. The only problem I had with this Amazing Game is when you become Really Good at it, You can Play a Board for HOURS! Granted, You can Quit Any Time with No Penalty, but in the End when the Game AI attacks your Corners with a Vengeance you can Win some Super Coins! To me that is the way to Win Billions on JoO! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Blowing up Gems is the name of the game. I once “Blew Up” 2/3 of the Board and SURVIVED, LOL! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: It Surely is a FUN!!! Game to learn! :star_struck:

This book, which I’ve read 3 times now, is invaluable! But I am left with the question…I know to try and use the elixer only when I’d make a move anyway and when there are more squares left on the board than I think 5, but What happens to the elixer if you have bottles left over after the board is cleared?

You can have up to 3 elixirs. They get saved until you use them. What I usually do is when I get a board I don’t want to play, I empty the elixirs on that board so I can start fresh. Getting an elixir is better than getting a bomb (which can end the game prematurely). The strategy is to play a winning board as long as possible.

I haven’t seen the book on Jewels of Osiris, so I have a question - does it advocate using elixirs as a tactic in the game not just because you’ve got yourself stuck?

I agree with @Elanor . I get rid of mine before I Start to Play a Board! @Eddi_Bets Elixirs can not Help you Win this Game. They can Only Help you Lose it. If you want the Book, Message me on CW.

@Elanor @Steve Sunset Thank you. I have to say after reading the book multiple times and practicing, I’m getting better

Eddi, I haven’t seen the book either, however I’m sure it came from a huge 20+ page posting in the previous and now defunct version of CW Help. It was written by a former player here named zagnut. I read the whole thing when it was posted, posted in it and saved some of it. One thing she advocated that I never had any luck with was playing without charms. I would almost always lose lots of coins if I did that.

As far as the elixers go, zagnut recommended the same thing that @Elanor said. If you have leftover elixers, play them before you start your next game. because it reduces the possibility of getting a bomb or other more harmful item early in the game. She recommended using the elixers on squares that you’ll be playing early anyway, for example the ones that form T’s or L’s if those are the requirements for the board you’re on. There’s no reason to use elixers once you start the game, since the part of the strategy to achieve your objective is to keep the squares open as long as possible.

When playing for extended periods, be careful to watch your coin total to see that you’re not going backwards. When you have most of the board already covered, you may become limited to making mostly moves that don’t result in big cascades, which will start costing you coins. Also the game “hints” are not necessarily the right moves if your objective is to play as long and make as many coins as you can. Be sure to analyze any negative effect you can see that they would have on your board, before blindly following those hints.

Wishing all of you JOO players lots of fun and GL!

I think I have become a hybrid player, insofar as I do the challenges as a priority but I don’t try to keep the board going for as long as possible. I enjoy the challenge part but not really the game overall

My aim in all JOO games is to meet the challenges the board sets, Ts, Ls, 5 lines and the collection of keys or specific gems but once they’re done I head for the hills, clearing the board as quickly as I can without costing myself in unproductive moves.

I always have left over elixirs because I only use them if I get myself really badly stuck and I have never used a shuffle

Sometimes I find myself playing without a charm when I haven’t noticed mine has emptied!

Once you get the hang of JOO, you can actually make about 10-100M per game without charms, sometimes even more if you can keep from completing the board. I recommend entering and exiting the game, or even toggling your bet down to 250K and back to 500K, until you get the square board without “walls” (empty middle) with keys. It is much easier to get the keys to drop off the board and keep the game going that way. There are a few different layouts, but that specific square board is definitely the easiest to manage. Always try to match towards the bottom of the board for a better chance at cascades, and look for those 4-square or 5-square matches whenever possible.
