Blackjack 5-Card Charlie: Does it not count for 6 cards?

Just a heads-up for fellow Blackjack players! It looks like hitting to 6 cards is not a guaranteed win here, even though the 5-card Charlie rule is active. Keep that in mind before you take that extra non busting hit to cash out more charms.

@Samantha, I’d love a confirmation on whether this is intended behavior.

Nope, you have to stop at 5. That’s why it’s called a “5 Card Charlie”.

Oh, and iv’e tested it to 7 cards also still nada.

Hi @GoldNugget, I just reviewed the official Blackjack rules in the game and found a clear discrepancy.
Since it says ‘5 or more,’ hitting to a 6th or 7th card should technically still be an automatic win according to the written text. It seems like the actual game logic isn’t matching up with the rules description. I really hope CW can get this fixed so the gameplay matches their own instructions.

The other “feature” is that the game does not allow you to hit a 4 card soft 21. I have had several hands (like A-2-3-5) where I pushed instead of won because I couldn’t hit the soft 21.

If you can count to 5 and stop, you should be ok, but NG is correct in that the rules don’t match the payoff.

Hi @Elanor, I’ve wondered about that too. I would love the option to hit that soft 21 as well.

Interestingly, I’ve noticed another ‘feature’ - the game actually allows me to hit all the way to 30 from a hard 21 if I accidentally double-tap the shortcut keys. It’s definitely strange that we can hit into a bust like that (I actually lose that hand), but can’t hit a 4 card soft 21 to try for a 5-card Charlie. Hopefully, the CW team can look into these logic inconsistencies

To clarify my strategy, the reason I hit that 5th card was because I was sitting on a 5 card soft 19. Since it was a safe hit, I figured I could easily secure the 5-card Charlie win and cash out another set of unicorns.

The most I can do is pass this along as feedback.

Ya NG been there. Sometimes I just like to test a certain games limits and tolerances making the minimum bet and using no charms. It’s a cheap way to find out without risking 50M in coins.

@GoldNugget! It’s the best way to find those little quirks we can use to our advantage. That kind of thinking is really useful in the real world, too. It reminds me of how you can churn credit cards by manufacturing spending to hit sign-up bonuses. You can ‘stack’ coupons, cashback portals (like CashbackMonitor), and card rewards along with Grocery store gift card purchase to get 60-90% off products. Gotta love finding an edge!

I can understand testing Charlie’s limits, but I’ve never even thought of taking a 6th card. Once I’ve got a guaranteed winning hand, I keep it. If it isn’t broken, I don’t fix it.
As for the other discrepancies, I agree: The code needs to be fixed.

Well you know what they say..”curiosity killed the cat”. Good thing NG and I aren’t cats we’d have been gone long ago. LOL.
