I understand GNG means grab and go, and maybe SNP means stay and play? But how does that work, and what does it really mean? I’ve gone on the games, but I just get lost in the confusion.

You have a choice as host to set the party as a “Grab’n’Go” or a “Party Buster”. Official “Grab’n’Go” don’t have a prize meter but “Party Buster” do.
As I understand it @Willie14 the host has set the party up as one with a prize meter rather than not but doesn’t expect to bust the meter because they don’t have enough gems to be able to do it themself. (You’d be surprised how often you encounter avatars who assume as a host you will personally bust the meter)
I have been to quite a few parties set up as “Grab’n’Go” ones and avatars toss charms even though there is no party meter, which is always nice as a party goer but which I don’t really understand as there are no prizes to be gained it’s just people being very generous with their gems. I’ve never had enough gems to know how it feels to have ones to spare! Hope this helps
yes, since its set up as a grab and go, you aren’t expected to throw anything more, but you may stay and play if you choose to do so.
Before, all parties were party busters.
About a year ago, Blitz and Grab-and-Go parties were introduced, following a suggestion I had submitted on the old forum. My primary goal was to shift away from the name-call style of parties and create a more personal and engaging atmosphere, making parties more enjoyable for everyone.
Despite the new formats, SnP still remains for some because it’s familiar and some folks are used to it.
I really like the GNG or SNP this way there is no pressure if a person only has party passes and no gems. They have a chance to get ahead with the generosity of others and will hopefully pay it forward in the future, when they can.
I agree, @Cathylee , give what you want, what you can, give nothing even, as we shouldn’t go into parties expecting to give anything with the exception of “mandatory toss” type parties. Most all higher gem/pass parties that are “buster” type that I attend, the expectations seem very, very low that the meter will reach the end. So low that most leave after the few tosses in the early goings.
Cheers,
I have my GnG Parties under Party Busters because some people like to throw charms or bust, that way you get the extra charms on meter. If people don’t want to throw charms or bust , it’s NO biggie since it is a GnG party.
you @T_n_TX have wonderful parties gf and your a great host
