This is a subject I think is important to be aware of. The avatars are made up characters. Although not everyone is, but some here, hide behind a name or avatar that looks like a certain sex doesn’t mean that they are. Remember we are online, some people pose as someone different for their own reason, so play safe and smart online. Happy gaming everyone

lol so true April, i played world of warcraft for 18yrs and most female avatars were actually male. Its the internet, you can pretend to be w/e you want lol.

I noticed the same thing on WOW. I think a lot of females felt men didnt’ want to play with a lot of women.

Hi April…Is your warning meant to make ppl aware of romance/catfishing scams? This is an RPG and I don’t think folks are hiding behind an avatar if they don’t have a nefarious purpose, but yeh, there are activities that may require a heightened awareness.
I’ve played a lot of MMORPGS (like Warcraft) and it is extremely common to experiment with gender in choosing characters. I’ve played male characters sometimes just to see how the teamwork changes. Sometimes I play males cuz I didn’t want to get hit on so much. Sometimes I just think the avatar is sweet, like some totally jacked stud.
A lot of guys play female avatars because, honestly they are just prettier and have more options. (Who doesn’t want to be Lara Croft? Or Sabrina Carpenter in Fortnite and dance with a bunch of other Sabrinas!)
Also, a lot of people find it safer to explore gender identity in the fantasy world, rather then in the real world where they may not be accepted.
I also agree with keeping it safe in the fantasy world. That’s pretty basic - no phone numbers, emails, socials given out. Please, no outing or doxing others. Use block if you feel unsafe. Know your red flags, and have fun.

I’m not trying to out anyone here I’m simply making some who are not as computer savvy aware what you see in avatar does not define the real person behind it in most cases, especially here when there’s gift giving etc.
