etiquette or not?

When I’m hosting, I feel awful leaving after the party was a success, but there is still friends in the room. Such a mixed up emotion I have on this. Do I leave when the party dies down? Or do I stay til the end?

I do thank everyone for attending the party, thank all gifters, have a good day, and then, poof, I leave.

How does other feel when the host leave before others? What is etiquette?

I leave when the party is done. I say:
“thanks everyone for coming!
:unicorn::rainbow::unicorn::rainbow::unicorn::rainbow::unicorn:
And then I move on. Sometimes people in party are AFK, or doing other work on their computer.

When i host, I tell everyone, that last one here, has to mop up the beer… and that tends to get everyone out of there.

Thanks Elanor, at least I don’t feel too bad now. And Boomx2, if I was in your party, I would of got a kick out that. Love that idea!

@bubble_magic I think some people may feel it’s rude to leave a party before the host does, particularly newer players. I do the same as Elanor, say my thank yous and goodbye message, although I do wait a little bit if there are still a lot of people in the room. If they don’t start going, then I’ll go ahead and leave. I like Boomx2’s idea about telling them the last one there has to mop up the beer. I know others use similar phrases like turn out the lights, clean up after the animals etc., and will try to remember to use one of those at my next party.

That is a sound advice, Luck is ALady! Wait around if there is a lot of people in the room. And that I’ll take in consideration, because I did poof a wee too early. Wonderful advice from everyone! Thank you guys!!!

I don’t think it’s rude. I would just thank everyone for coming, and let them know they’re welcome to stay as long as they like, then say your goodbyes and leave… I have been at parties where myself, and a group of my friends, stayed for 30 minutes after the other party guest had left, just chatting. I wouldn’t expect the host to hang around the entire time.

That’s pretty cool to stick around with friends afterwards. I express my gratitude over and over, and I find I still having the same friends come back. I’m doing something right.

Thank you for your wonderful input!

Etiquette or not, I think most anything is acceptable. Once the party has filled and all collect the 25x charms for the cover charge, I almost always thank all attendees for being there as my last official act in the party. Once that’s done, I might announce and take my leave at any moment. On the other hand, as MattD mentioned, if I get into a conversation with one of my friends, I might stick around and visit until time to go to my next party, which might take 40 to 45 minutes or so. I think the main thing you could call etiquette in this is that you communicate your feelings and intentions and then leave when you are ready.

Thank you for sharing your experience, so many great advice from you all!!!

Most of all, I’m totally amazed of the after party chats, just like in real life. That is so cool!

I went into a party after I clicked the entrance box, and if the party is full, I click to enter another party. So I knew that was an overflow.

There was another party I entered, I assumed it was the original one, until one of the friends mentioned this was an overflow. (upon entrance, there was no box to click letting you know it’s an overflow). It was one of those helicopter toss party. How did that person know?

And then how would the host know if he/she have an overflow with a good amount of friends in the other room? I’m not seeing any clue anywhere?

This have baffled me for quite some time now. So glad you bought that up.

Are you saying LIE? Thats crazy!

@bubble_magic . usually a popular party, (especially if its set at the same time daily) will fill ahead of the party, and so when its full, you get thrown into overflow. You can also see if the host is online, and use the locate button, if it shows they are in a full cabin, then you know you are in overflow. I tend to leave the overflow rooms then (unless its a good grab and go) . Sometimes if you are the host, a friend will whisper to you that they are in overflow, so you can quickly do the first party then tell others you are going to overflow and to follow you there.

Hope this helps. BB

That make sense, the party that I went to is the same time slot everyday and it did go directly to overflow.

Seeing if host is online and use the locate button is an added bonus for me.
