Hey everyone,
I’d like to share some thoughts about hosting parties in CW- why frequent hosting can be great for the community and why “hoarding” doesn’t really apply, especially for hosted (host-shows) parties.
1. Hosting = Community, Not Exclusivity
Hosting isn’t about taking over - it’s about bringing people together. Your presence builds connection, engagement, and community spirit - not division.
2. This Isn’t a Zero-Sum Game
In zero-sum thinking, one person’s win is another’s loss. But here, hosting more doesn’t limit others; it adds more options. When someone hosts, everyone benefits from more opportunities to play.
3. Your Presence Makes the Party
Parties where the host is present are vibrant and trustworthy. Being active keeps the energy alive and encourages players to come back.

4. No-Host Parties Drain the Fun
When the host doesn’t show up, the party time still blocks out slots that others could’ve used - it’s passive crowding. That absence drains engagement and can feel spammy or disrespectful to the community.
5. Overflow = Interest, Not Monopoly
Seeing up to 20 overflows? That’s just strong demand - not greed. It means people are excited to join and are choosing your sessions because they’re engaging and inclusive.
6. Clearing Up Misunderstandings
I’ve received feedback suggesting I’m greedy and “hoarding” parties - even though I only host eight per week (4 on Saturday, 4 on Sunday), and often run multiple overflows 30+ minutes past schedule. One person even speculated I must be affiliated with CW because my parties happen so closely together within an hour. But that framing treats hosting like a limited resource - and it’s not. Hosting is optional, open to everyone - it’s meant to be an opportunity, not something withheld.
7. Outliers Exist - But That’s a Different Conversation
Of course, there are occasional outlier behaviors - like persistent no-shows or disruptive attendance patterns - that impact the community. Those deserve their own conversation and should be handled sensitively and thoughtfully.
TL;DR Table
Principle | Why It Matters |
---|---|
Hosting = Generosity | Welcoming players, not excluding them |
Hosting ≠ Hoarding | More hosting = more opportunities, not fewer |
Presence Wins | Energizes the party and builds trust |
Absence Hurts Community | No-host parties waste slots that could’ve served others, damaging engagement |
Overflow = Engagement | Indicates demand - players are choosing to be there |
Hosting Is Inclusive | It’s open to anyone - it’s about creating, not restricting |
In short: Hosting parties is about opening doors, not closing them. A successful party is one where you’re present and creating energy - not just setting up a slot. Let’s keep our community lively, welcoming, and inclusive.
If anyone ever feels overshadowed or just wants to chat about hosting ideas, my door’s always open. Community thrives on honest, open conversation.
