This girl (a Tourist) had a 10 charm party and didn’t attend. The party never filled because it stayed on the board for a long time. So I asked her why do you have parties like that & not attend. She said other party people love those &.my city gets the supplies & my buildings are fuller.
Well, ok, I have NO idea what the heck she is talking about???

well she has to attend to get the rewards, so not sure what she is talking about. i leave if the host isnt there!
I think what she means is she can host parties without attending and get rewards through the achievements. If you go on achievements then click general then click on party charms that is where you get your rewards you do not have to attend parties to get these you only need to host and not attend. I am thinking this is what she means there is no other way to get supplies.
There are lots of people on here who host parties and do not attend.
One of the achievements is Charmer give 100,000 party charms worth 500 million coins. Once all the achievements have been completed you will not get anymore coins
Whether you attend these parties or not you will still get your achievement done and get your reward

I only host parties to complete challenges so it wouldn’t make any sense to not show up.
To get the charms from that party you have to attend, but under your profile, where the achievement cup is, there is challenges for even hosting parties… To me its not worth it… i dont go to no host parties and i wouldnt hold them.
Off Topic, But FUNNY as ALL!
When I got here a Vet Player told me, “You need to make sure there are PATHs between all your Buildings.” That made no sense to me, so I asked “Why?”! Response… “So all your Customers can get to your Buildings to Spend their Money and make your Coins/Prizes Biggger when you Collect!”? OMG, LMAO 
BUT, If you look at my CITY Today, I went out of my way to make sure my “Customers” can get to MOST of MY Buildings to Spend their MONEY! LOL 
I love Collecting it! Just saying? Another Crazy Concept, LOL 
I was told it helped your city output. Never tracked it to see if it true or not. I just took their word it. In any case I like to see the little people strolling through the town!
i like going to or hosting parties, because without a good host, people are just standing around… no one welcoming you in. etc. makes for a dull time. 
To get your achievement, you must host and attend a successful charm party. You don’t have to stay after it ‘succeeds’, but what is the point. I’ll host a party just because I like parties, especially after you build relationships. And I’ll go ‘locate’ some people, just to see if they are in somebody else’s party. Great way to meet like-minded people and make new friends.
There are a lot of varied opinions on no host parties. I personally like to thank the host and say hi etc. – but the host not being there has no bearing at all on how successful the party will be or how fun it will be. It is what you make it. As long as it fills there should be no issue with the success. People can certainly have a good time and chat and dance and toss charms so on and so forth just as well as if the host is there. I’ve been to many GNG no host parties for charms that I desperately needed and have been so thankful that certain people post lots of parties with times that work for a wide range of people. Super helpful in my opinion to know I can hit an Ice Cream party, or Cigar party, or Unicorn party with a huge range of time slots available. This is cool by me.
I asked @samantha if hosting parties boosted My City production but she said no.
I know for me, i always like to try and be there for the Unicorn parties that I host. A few times now, due to life circumstances, there are times i have to attend to life and miss my own party. It happens at times, but I will often appologize at my next party. However, if a someone is hosting parties and its consistent that they are not there, then i don’t worry about that either. They are offering a party with charms i’m after and that’s all i need. If they are there or absent it has no bearing on the party at all
There’s a certain group known to hijack parties so the host can’t attend.
That’s so petty. What is wrong with some people - I know this is a game but there’s no call to act like children
How are they able to hijack a host’s party?
They host a main party, then pick a random party starting a few minutes after the party busts. They enter early and often fill before the host arrives. If the host happens to be there, luck grins. The group busts their party.
Somebody suggested quite a while back that they’d like to see a special entry way for hosts so they could just pop in to their own party even if the party was already filled. I think @Samantha did forward that. My guess is that the Host access to his or her own full parties would be pretty low in priority on the projects list and might never happen.
