Perk Gems Allowances

Confused as to the working structure. Starting this month i have bought two buildings only. First building was a tier 15 in which I was awarded 181 perk gems. Upon buying the second building, a tier 15, I was awarded only 95 perk gems. So why and how the difference? Why not the same allowance for both?

Did you make the 1st purchase before you got the 200% Vault Boost?

Yes. I just got the 200% today. So, if that is the case one gets punished for progress?

Wow seems so. I’m on strike with the building buying, or anything else for that matter, until they add more CLs.

Are you talking about perk gems received here @WV_Julie ?

I consistently get 40 perk gems for a 10,000 gem building purchase, if I have building bucks of any significant number that are used in a 10,000 gem purchase I get fewer than 40 perk gems.

I did the math on perks earlier:

Hi GoldNugget and everyone posting and interested in learning more and sharing more about their 200% Vault Boost experience.
Optimally, in order to get the most bang for my buck, so to speak, (it’s going to be July 4 before we know it!) should I keep doing my Citybuilding from Day 1 of the new month like I’ve been doing, or wait until I reach the 200% Vault Boost, and then begin my City Building, Monument Making, and Evolving for the month?
Thanks!
Mrs Lindie

I believe @WV_Julie is referring to the green prizes, which might be getting confused with the monthly Perks you receive for spending gems.

@WV_Julie, new buildings do give more gems if it’s a gem prize. Newly purchased buildings in the HMP (Honeymoon Period) provide a higher amount of gems/passes and a larger charm every 6 hours. You can collect coins more often, but I would advise against it, it’s usually better to sync it up and collect everything together when your other buildings are ready. Also, green prizes have a multiplier! If you happen to hit a 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x multiplier, you’ll get more gems than their base value. For example, an L4 monument post-HMP will give 8.5M coins, 85 passes, or 85 gems, plus a Gold Playing Card/Holiday Wine charm every 6 hours. If you ever see multiples of those numbers, it just means you hit the multiplier.

What @Eddi_Bets is referring to are the monthly Perks (rewards) you get for spending gems, avatar tokens, or party passes throughout the entire month. It’s very similar to cashback on a credit card. Spending 10K gems and getting 40 gems back at the beginning of the month works out to a 0.04% reward rate.

@Mrs_Lindie, it would definitely be better to wait until you get your 100% Treasure Box speed-up before buying buildings. By the time you reach that point, you’ve already received your 1000% vault cap raise and your 200% vault earning rate boost. Since your buildings power your Treasure Box, it’s best to hold off on buying any new ones until that 100% TB speed-up kicks in each month. For about the first 10-14 days or so, just stick to your usual CW routine: collect from your Treasure Box, gather your coins and green prizes, save your gems and passes, if you like ( until you unlock your extra charm benefit).

Thank you Night Guy and everyone’s input in this forum. This is a great community.

No night guy I am not talking about green prizes. I am talking about monthly perks for spending gems. As related previously The first tier 15 bought on the first ,paid back 181 gems for my gems spent for that tier 15. The second tier 15 I bought on the 3rd, after the 200% increase was only 95 gems received as perks for gems spent on that tier 15. My curiosity arises as to why not the same for all buildings the same size? I will get another tier 15 tomorrow, the 7th, and see if any difference.

Hey @WV_Julie, oops, gotcha. My mistake. Gem perks should be the same for buildings as long as you spent the exact same amount of actual gems (and didn’t use any Building Bucks to cover the cost).

It is weird that your first payout was so much higher. Is it possible you spent gems on other stuff on the 1st - like tossing charms, sending gifts, or converting to avatar bucks? If you checked the vault right before and after the purchase, then that is definitely a mystery… but hey, you ended up getting more than 0.002% and 0.004%, so that’s a win! lol.

Keep us updated on what happens with the next one on the 7th!

So Night Guy, I read your part about holding off on buying any new buildings until the 100% speed-up kicks in each month. Okay, I get that. Then taking it a step further, regarding the part where for 10-14 days I stick to my usual CW routine - Should I wait to commence city building until the 10-14 days also? I could do that. I would just City Shop, Monument Make and Evolve more during that time to make up for the first 10-14 days.

Hi @Mrs_Lindie,

That 10-14 day mark is just a rough estimate of when most players hit the 100% TB speed-up. I would wait to do anything with your buildings until then, and that includes evolving your monuments.

Newly made or evolved monuments get their own HMP too - it doesn’t last quite as long as a regular building purchase, but it is definitely worth waiting for them to power up your treasure box after the speed-up.

Well Night Guy I just bought my third tier 15 building for the month. The fluctuation is quite different in the three as far as perk gems received for each. Now these amounts are with nothing bought ,given out etc. etc, just the 3 new buildings. First building 181 perk gems, second building 95 perk gems, and the third building, which I got today, only 40 perk gems. Second two were after the 200% reached on the challenge trail. The three buildings I did receive are located in the bottom right corner of my city.

Thank you, Night Guy. I appreciate your help. On we go!

Hey @WV_Julie,

That is super weird! If the amounts are that different for the exact same buildings, that is a total mystery to me. I honestly have no idea why it would fluctuate that much, but 60 gems is actually the correct amount for a T15 building. It might be worth shooting a message over to Support so they can check your account and figure out what is happening on their end!

Its been 181, 95, and the last 3, 40, 40, 40
