The powerups that you have, are you able to use them as you play? If so, how?
You are not in control of which powerups you get to play in Mahjong, the game is. There are tiles that are edged in green and have a small green circle icon with either a single or double lightening symbol (you can see one on this image, bottom row, towards the right) and each of those provides a key to accessing a powerup. When you match a pair and one or both of the tiles contain this symbol the bar at the bottom of the screen begins to fill. Once the bar is full the game will randomly offer you one of the powerups you have stored. It takes 3 single symbol matches to fill the bar
Make sure you visit the game, as if you will play once every 24 hours and the game will start to collect free powerups for you after you do it for a straight week.
The game even tells you when you can collect again by way of a 24 hour timer countdown
