Mahjong power up question

What do the following power up’s do in Mahjong?
Gold Multi-Match
Extra Energy
Fireworks

I think I have had the Gold Multi-Match come into play 1 time, but do not really know what it was capable of.
I do not recall every getting the other two, so am interested in knowing what they are capable if I do finally get them.

Thanks for any help on this.

Hi @PB234 I haven’t fully tracked all the power ups in Mahjong but I did note a couple of them made a difference to how many coins I accrued in matching pairs of tiles. I think fireworks affect the value too but haven’t had any in a while. As far as I can tell the ‘swap tiles’ power up doesn’t alter the coins earned. Extra energy power up gives out the little lightening symbol that makes a tile count towards you being awarded a power up. As far as I can tell you can’t control which power ups you get to use. The GoldMultiMatch will take out 4-8 Tiles that are the same!

ExtraEnergy will ADD a LOT of New Lightning Tiles! Some will Double up, so be careful when using them. It only takes 3Lightning to get a New Power up

Fireworks will BLAST 10+ Tiles off the board

I LOVE the GoldTileMatch! I use it to show me where LIKE tiles are Hidden on my board before I use it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I use the SwapTiles to Place LIKE tiles next to my REDCoin Tiles so I can get 2 at a time on TripleRewards if I can

I only use LOTS of Ponies and BlueTonic to play Mahjong!

I think the reason you haven’t seen them yet is maybe because you haven’t reached a certain level at Mahjong. I faintly recall having them along the way, but i have finished all the villages a long time ago and i don’t remember the first time they appeared. Now i get all of them every time i collect the treasure box of the day. As the previous ones said: Gold Multi-Match gives you the opportunity to match multiple tiles of the same kind wherever they are on the board, Extra Energy: Gives more tiles with thunder so you can fill the new power up more times (it helps a lot) and Fireworks(which is my favourite): clears a lot of tiles simultaneously! Hope this helps.

Thank you all. So do you recommend using a power up as soon as you get it so you can get another one? I don’t always use say a swap tile power up if I get it quickly since I have many matches on the board. So maybe I should use that immediately so I can get another power up. My guess is I am might be wasting tiles that have the lightning on it if I have not used the power up already earned. I also have completed all the levels and have to play Random Mode at this point.

Hi @PB234 I use whatever power up I have before matching any tile that has the lightening on it because I presume I waste it but I don’t know whether I’m correct in my thinking.
I always use the Gold tile match to see what is where before using it, remembering everything can be a bit tough if it’s early on and a very full board. If I find one individual pair that’s easy to clear I shut the power up off and clear them to see what’s underneath, you never know what lurks below. I plan on paying closer attention next time I play and if I find anything new I’ll report back

I’m pretty sure if you use a Lightning tile when you already have a Power-up, you LOSE that Lightning tile :frowning: They do not accumulate! Otherwise, I agree with @Eddi_Bets says below

@SteveSunset I don’t know what happens if you use a Lightning tile when you already have a Power-up, but it should carry over to count as the first of the three Lightning tiles you need to use to get the next Power Up. I know that’s true when you’ve used two of the three Lightning tiles toward getting a Power Up, but your only next match choice is two tiles which both have Lightning. Choosing them will complete the Power Up and then give you one credit toward the next Power Up.

I had the chance to see this recently and it did not carry over for me :frowning: I was forced to take 2 Blue Dragon tiles with Double Lightning on Both, There was no carry over :frowning: And then had to do the same thing with Red Dragons with no carry over on the same board :frowning:

Sorry SteveSunset, maybe CW has changed the carryover feature in Mahjong. I don’t play it very much anymore except for challenges, and haven’t had the situation come up lately where I would have gotten a carryover. I’ll watch out to see what happens next time I have a Mahjong challenge.

Does anyone know if there is a way to skip a power up if I don’t want to use it? e.g. Fireworks can ruin some of the puzzles that need to be solved in a certain order. I hate having it just sit there when I could be getting other power ups.

I was thinking the same thing. Ant thoughts, CW?

What do you mean by “…some of the puzzles that need to be solved in a certain order…”?

I believe he’s referring to situations where there are four identical tiles, with three available to match and two stacked on top of each other. In this case, you should prioritize matching the top tile first before the two separate tiles. If a firework power-up is used, it may match the two individual tiles, leaving the stacked tiles untouched, which could limit your matching options later.

No way except to use it. Its my Favorite for BIG Payouts
