When trying to complete Anastas Island in Fringo, there is an achievement called Close Encounter. You need to daub one single fruit using the U.F.O. Powerup. I’ve used the U.F.O. Powerup and it daubs a fruit. Why doesn’t it count? Is it because it is daubing a fruit that I have more than one of?? Any help would be appreciated. I’m baffled. (of course, that’s not unusual for me lol)
I don’t know how to complete this one either. I have had numerous times of only daubing 1 fruit with the UFO and it never has completed. I hope someone has insight on how this one can be completed.
Actually, I think its on Pearl Island, either way, I’m stumped. Still trying to see if it has to do with not having multiple fruits when it hits, ie 2 melons or 2 lemons or 3 of something else, etc. Good luck to you. I think we might need it!
I wonder if you have to hold on to the UFO unti you only have one last fruit on the board remaining as it always daubs two??
Hi @Cathylee,
The UFO powerup is designed to daub two random fruits, but there is a trick to getting just one for the achievement. If you manually daub that fruit right before the UFO targets it, it will only end up daubing one. It really comes down to chance because you have to daub the right fruit that is available and one of the 2 the UFO is targeting. Another easy way to get it is to hold onto the UFO and use it on the very last remaining fruit right before you Fringo the whole board.
Good luck -NG
Gotta tell ya, @Cathylee . I’ve never liked this game, but I play it to increase my familiarity with it, for those times when it is presented as a challenge. For me, it is one of the most frustrating games available on CW. I know a lot of people like it, but when I force myself to practice playing it, feel like I am performing some form of penance for my litany of past sins LOL!
Don’t let it frustrate you. I’m baffled too!
CathyLee, Night Guy is right. Usually the UFO daubs 2 fruits but this achievement requires it to daub only one fruit, which means you release the UFO ( if you happen to have a UFO) when there’s only one fruit left on the board. Another one that’s more confusing is Kalinka Island’s Bomb-tastic “Obtain 5 Fringos using bomb power ups”. What it means is that double and triple and mega Fringos don’t count, only single Fringos and you must do it 5 times.I’ve been stuck on Maharaja Island and Ananas Island for a long time, rarely see 20 players in a game, let alone jump 20 places with a daub. Fringo can be fun but expensive to play. Each game uses like 4 powerups, cost 3 gems per powerup, hence 12 gems a game. The worst thing about Fringo is that the highest paying game of 5M called Jackpot Island has a dark background color on the cards and you know 4 of the fruits has the 3 black spots but you cannot see the 3 black spots against the dark background,so you don’t know where to properly use your Fireworks. If you avoid the 5M game, then the lower games do not cash out your charms very quickly.
Thank you for the advice. I tried holding on til the last square but wasn’t doing too well with that as I wasnt getting a lot of fringos to begin with lol so I will try your other suggestion today as well.
As far as I can make out, Night Guy’s 2 ways are just one way, It’s not easy to get this achievement but over thousand of games,I’ve done it maybe 5 times. Here are a few suggestions to CW to make this game more popular.
-Consider changing the 2 (jump 20 places with a daub) achievements on Maharaja and Ananas to something easier .
-Remove the dark background color on the cards of Kalinka and Jackpot Islands to a lighter color so the 3 black spots above the fruits are visible ( just like on Maharajah Island).
-add another second to the time that the last fruit appear on the conveyor to the end of the game.Right now, there’s just enough time to daub the last fruit, but if the last fruit fills up the power bar there’s just no time to use the new powerup on the powerbar.
Thank you Samantha!
My problem with this game is the jump 10 or 20 places achievements. There are never that many people playing. Also the Kompot on Kalinka Island. There is never a black currant.
@Jimee / @Brondie, the only two achievements I cannot complete are the “Jump 20 spots” on Maharaja Island and Ananas Island. I am not sure how one can possibly achieve it, as having 21 or more players in a game is not something that happens very often.
Thanks for your request. I’ve passed this along to our teams.
Thank you @Night_Guy & @Jimee I’ve finally completed Pearl Island!! Good Luck @Smiling_Jim If I can get it done so can you!! Daub on my friend! ![]()
Way to go CathyLee. Well done!
Thank you Jimee!! Wasn’t easy but the smile on my face made it worth it! Couldn’t have done it without the help of my friends here on the forum!
