I only collect my city’s green boxes every 2 1/2 to 3 days. They used to disappear fairly quickly if I didn’t collect them after doing my city coin collection, For the last couple of weeks though, they stay displayed for a very long time. I used to be able to get rid of them by playing a game, but now even that doesn’t seem to help. Reloading the site doesn’t make them go away either.
If there’s a way to get them to disappear quickly, would someone please let me know. I usually work on my city when I first log on after I do my coin collection, so the green boxes get in the way.

Today it seems that the green boxes aren’t going to disappear. I logged on about 430PM Eastern time and it’s now 730PM, and boxes are still showing. I’ve gone to a party and played some games, but they’re still there.

Once they appear, they will never get bigger. Just click the “Collect Prizes” at the top of screen after collecting coins! If you have one on your Storage Tab, you can click on it. They will go away and give you the Rewards from them. There is no reason to keep them after they appear.

Not true @SteveSunset . As @Night_Guy says in his Tips and Tricks posting, extending your Green Boxes collection time up to 3 days gives you bigger gem and pass prizes. I’ve been on CW for 3 3/4 years, so don’t really think I need a tutorial on collecting Green Box prizes, and that is neither the topic nor question being asked here.
I collected my coins and didn’t collect the green boxes this morning 08:30 (UTC +1) and they stayed on the screen despite me logging out and back in but the game logged me out through inactivity and when I came back they’d gone which was 09:30 (UTC +1).
That said, I do usually collect my boxes every day so it may be different for me
For me, the green boxes stay until some building offers new coins to collect. I usually build something every day, at least a couple of level 6 buildings, so something is always in day 1 HMP to make green boxes disappear quickly.

By City Green Box, do you mean the Green Rewards Box?

LOL, Sorry, I wondered about that and the only way I knew to make the Green Boxes disappear (not show) was to collect them! 
What @Elanor says make more sense for your answer. They “stop showing” when Buildings get more coins? So the faster your Buildings get coins, the faster they stop showing? 
I do think what I said about the Green Boxes not getting bigger after they appear is true. I looked at the NG post and only found this…
To me, this means they are still stored on the CW server (not growing larger) waiting for the next calculation of you City Collection and New Green Boxes. They will “Stack” on the Server until you collect them, But the Value of the Green Box already showing will never change.
Maybe @Night_Guy can chime in and let us know for sure?
Flowplay seems to have fixed the problem. The green city reward boxes now disappear if you don’t collect them in about 10 minutes. Ty Flowplay!
