Just an observation based on the charm list - could the median value of each charm be 5,000 coins per gem?

Thank you @Night_Guy for taking the time to list all these tips and information. I know so many of them were on the old help section so it is nice to have them back again. Certainly something every new player should read so they get a better picture of how to try to advance in playing CW.

After writing about gift charms here - Gift Charms, it got me thinking.

Could having fewer players in a party room or a non party-room affect how charms are split and potentially increase the coin payout per person, bringing the variation closer to the higher end of the charm’s 25% value range?

I can’t say for certain until further testing is done. The idea makes sense theoretically: with fewer participants, the total coin value of a charm would be distributed among a smaller group, resulting in higher individual payouts.

For example:

  • In a full room of 25 players, the charm’s value is split equally, leading to smaller payouts per person.
  • In a smaller room, say with 20 participants or less, the same charm value would be divided by fewer people, resulting in larger payouts for those present.

Whether this leads to payouts consistently approaching the higher 25% variation range of a charm’s value remains unclear. More experimentation is needed to validate this hypothesis, but it’s worth exploring if you’re curious about maximizing charm payouts!

A LOT of this research has been done to some extent by @RedHottie. She gets down to the PartyRoom/Charm offered and whether the Host is Present or NOT? Did the Host Clear Coins/Prizes before a Party? How many Regular Parties does the Host have? What is the Rank of the Host City? Is it a X1,X2,X3,X5 or X10 Party? And much more to Regularly get closer to that TOP 25% of Charm Pay-outs  I use her info everyday! It works for me :revolving_hearts:

Experimenters should know Charms should be tested before they leave the Charm Buffer.

It would be nice to have a place to report results?

Thanks for sharing @SteveSunset . RedHottie certainly has her approach, and it’s clear she puts a lot of effort into her research. While there are aspects of her methodology I don’t necessarily agree with, if it works for her and provides results she’s happy with, then that’s all that matters - everyone’s experience can be different.

That said, based on my observations and testing, I don’t believe factors such as the frequency of parties, time of day, whether the host is present, coins/green prizes collected prior to the party, or the rank of the host’s city have any influence on charm payouts. From a programming perspective, creating a system so complex just doesn’t seem practical, and I don’t think it aligns with how the game is designed.

Also, keep in mind the law of large numbers. To confidently say that something is most likely true, you would need a large enough sample size to average out variations and randomness. Without this, conclusions may be skewed by outliers or small sample sizes.

Ultimately, what works best for each individual depends on their own approach and preferences. If RedHottie’s method is useful for you, that’s great! Everyone is welcome to experiment and find their own path.

edit - clear up some examples.

Thats Great! What about the Law of Small Numbers and Gambling? Especially taking into account The Law of Averaging! Time is not a Factor. Example—

I have 9500 Passes, How to get the BEST PayOut-Unicorns?

Go to a X10 Party?
Go to (2) X5 Parties?
Go to (3) X3 + (1) X1 Parties?
Go to (5) X2 Parties?
Got to (10) X1 Parties?

The X10 could give you 4M Coin Unicorns :frowning: BUT It could give you 6M Coin Unicorns!

The X5 could give you 4M and 6M averaging 5M!

The X2s ? Who Knows, LOL

My Point is Using Smaller Parties and the Averaging Law to Increase the Value of your Charms, If you have time, is the way to go

@SteveSunset, you’re correct that attending smaller parties (like 10 individual 1x unicorn parties) could bring you slightly closer to the mean payout over time. Additionally, it could get extra charms from the charms dropped by others in the party and charms from the party meter.

On the other hand, opting for a single 10x unicorn party is much more time-efficient, and over time, it will still average out in the long run.

That said, attending smaller parties can also have unintended consequences. Seeing others toss might encourage you to toss as well, potentially costing you gems you might not be able to afford. Whether you choose smaller parties or larger ones, it comes down to finding the approach that fits your goals and time management.

Just a quick comment from a Statistics Prof.

The Law of large Numbers states that your actual return will approach the expected return over time as you increase the sample size. What that means is if you are playing a slot game with an expected loss of 5%, you must eventually lose in the long run even if you are winning in the short run. If you play Blackjack correctly with an expected gain of 4%, you will win in the long run even if you suffer short term losses.

Because of the Central Limit Theorem, we know that the variability of your return is reduced the more times you play by a factor of 1/sqrt(n) where n is the number of plays and the distribution will follow a Bell Curve. On my post about why I like Blackjack, I posted a 5 sigma table, which shows that you will win the longer you play, but there is a small chance you could lose up to 20B in the short run.

The so-called Law of Small Numbers is more of an explanation as to why people believe in luck. In the short run you can win a game with a negative expected value. For example, 2 years ago I made a 6B bet on the Lakers when they were huge underdogs vs. the Grizzlies. I got lucky and won 11.4B, even though Sports Book has a large casino advantage. That was just a one off. I don’t make sports bets, except for challenges at the minimum level because I know, In the end, math always wins.

Update - Treasure Box and footnotes

Play Smart, Relax, and Enjoy

One of the most important things to remember about CW is that everyone’s progress is different, and that’s perfectly fine. Never spend money you don’t have on gems, it’s just not worth the stress. Progression is not a race, and it’s okay to take things at your own pace. It’s not always about climbing the leaderboard or moving up milestones. Sometimes, it’s about slowing down and enjoying what CW has to offer.

Take the time to explore and appreciate the little details. The graphics are beautifully designed, and the charm of the game lies in its atmosphere. Many of the people DG and I have met along the way have become some of our closest friends, and that’s one of the most valuable aspects of CW. Don’t stress about getting ahead; instead, enjoy the experience, talk to people, and create memories.

Keep in mind that CW wasn’t designed for players to speed through milestones, like reaching MS70 in just three months. Some achievements are meant to take time, and a few, like “The Golden Years,” require daily commitment over 12 years. So slow down, play some games, and don’t bet more than you can afford to lose. Remember, this is all about fun.

While CW is competition based, play in a way that makes you happy. My tips are based on my experience, but you don’t have to follow them if something else works better for you. And most importantly, don’t be that person*, everyone has different strategies, and that’s okay. No one enjoys that kind of energy.

Most importantly, have fun, connect with others, and enjoy the community that’s what makes CW truly special!
