Upgrading Buildings 101 - Fact vs Fiction

There was recently a LOT of interest in this subject.

As a City Builder, I was sad to see beginners wasting their Hard Earned Gems even considering doing Building Upgrades :frowning:

MY OPINION is that if you are not COLLECTING Special Buildings, STAY AWAY from this Feature! If you are COLLECTING, GREAT, UPGRADE, Put it aside and keep it FOREVER!

If you are BUILDING your CITY, You are WASTING your HardEarned Gems EVERY Time you UPGRADE :frowning: AND there is NO MATH you can do to change that FACT!

I will give you an example-
I had a T9 DiamondHall (Cost500Gems) I got an Offer UPGRADE to T10 (Cost1000Gems) ! So, If I accepted the Offer, I would get a T10- Angel Tower, I think? ALL T10s are Worth 1000Gems in Your City! AND I LOSE My 500Gem T9 DiamondHall! GREAT for COLLECTORS, BAD for BUILDERS!

For those 1000Gems, I could Keep my T9 DiamondHall(500Gems), Buy Another DiamondHall(500Gems), (2) T8 Buildings(2X200Gems=400Gems) and (2) T6 Buildings(2X50Gems=100Gems)! I get a 4DayHMP on those! When I MonMake the (2)T6 to L1, I get another 2DayHMP on it, When I Evolve the L1(100Gems) to L2 with my (1)T9 and (2)T8s, I get 2DayHMP on it! ALL The time SuperPowering MY TB, LOL! And I still got my Original T9 DiamondHall!

We are all FREE PPL here. We can enjoy ourselves as We see fit. If you are COLLECTING Special Bldgs, More Power to ya! If you are BUILDING your CITY? Beware of UPGRADING!

For those of us beginners that have older T6 buildings already purchased.
When you go to build the T1 monument, is there any way to tell the order in which you purchased the T6 buildings. I’m thinking they are listed in order of acquisition, but that’s just a guess.

Hi @VanCity_Rocker Try clicking the upgrade arrow on the BBQ but don’t buy it. Then maybe it will cycle to another building which is upgradeable. Do that each time the arrow shows up whether you want to buy it or not. Not sure that will make a difference, but I have seen it move on to another upgradeable building and that might be a coincident, but worth trying.

Agreed :slight_smile: But this Topic was Posted for Beginner “CityBuilders”. You are basically saying you are a “BuildingCollector” wanting the “Special” Buildings! That is Great! We all have FUN!!! in our own ways. Many, like me, can not buy Gems and have to be efficient using the Gems we get here :slight_smile: Upgrading is not an efficient use of those Gems for “CityBuilders”, it is a waste of those precious resources. No Math here is going to make one T10 building give more than another T10 building no matter what it looks like :frowning: Enjoy and have FUN!!! — Just KNOW you LOSE Gems, thus Power, on EVERY UPGRADE!

When you go to MonumentMaker click on “Date added Oldest” to see the order you purchased them :slight_smile:

WOW, WOW, WOW! Rest assured I will NEVER HUMBLE myself to another HumanBeing on this EARTH!!! I Respect EV1s Artistic and Creative Talents. I have a little of those talents, but I am mostly Mathematically Talented. If somehow you feel like I “demonize you and try to put you down”, I am sorry! That would never be my intention towards anyone! Art is graded by the “Eye of the Beholder”, but ALL MATH is a UNIVERSAL FACT!!! And YES, No matter how hard you try, 500+500 will ALWAYS = 1000!!! every place on this Planet! Im not understanding your research on this Topic? I hope you are taking the HMP into account in your calculations? Also, Its my opinion that these covversations are “Off Topic” and “Dramatic” and should be addessed with Private Messages in the future? This CW may be artificial and fake, but there is a REAL PERSON behind every AVI :slight_smile:

math is a universal concept just like music, just ask those scientists that sent the voyager ship out into the cosmos.
Although I have a couple eternal rests waiting to be created, I’ll wait til I get enough T6 buildings…I understand the desire to upgrade right away, but I’ll keep those that I want to upgrade waiting til I get at least 10 monuments above T1 or at least 3 T4. In the meantime its focus on T6 buildings.
The issue is those coming for help, everyone will have an opinion on tactics. For those that have the disposable income, @VanCity_Rocker 's concept might appeal more, while those tourists and newbs can learn alot from @SteveSunset 's computations on how to manage a city on a non-VIP’s, net income.
Just remember everyone has their own opinions, and all you can hope to do is enlighten those in need of help. I sure know I learned a few things here. Thank you
